Ashbourne/Donaghmore to receive further 100K Community Grant

Meath East TD and Minister of State Mary Wallace welcomes further funding of €100,000 from Meath County Council to Ashbourne/Donaghmore GFC under the Community Grants Scheme 2008.

Donaghmore/Ashbourne GFC facility at Killegland opened this fabulous state of the art premises in November, 2007. This new facility has received funding through the Community Grants Scheme of €300,00 so far to date and has now been approved to receive an additional €100,000 funding. The total amount of funding available for Community Groups in 2008 is €380,841, €100,000 of which has been set aside for Donaghmore/Ashbourne GAA.

Chairman of Donaghmore/Ashbourne Conor Tormey said “Significant work has been completed at the facility so far, works are complete on the new bridge, site services, road, car park, boundary fence and main club house including changing room, foyer, function area and the main playing pitch. The indoor playing area is also complete along with the viewing stand.”

The Chairman said the club was always delighted with Meath County Council’s overall commitment to the project of €600,000 and are delighted to have received €400,000 of this money to date as it has made a big difference to the club.

The club also received €660,000 from the National lottery grants over the past few years and great credit has been given to Chairman Conor Tormey for steering the club to its new premises in the town, for the securing of the land in the town and these fabulous local and national grants.
