M3 Officially opened – Wallace

“Today Friday 4th June 2010 the much anticipated 60KM M3 motorway was opened to motorists ahead of schedule” stated Deputy Mary Wallace TD who attended the official ceremony to mark the occasion.

The 1billion euro project including the essential Dunshaughlin By pass will be a major asset to commuters and also to residents living on the many roads previously used as unofficial bypasses in the Skryne/Ratoath/Kilbride and Dunsany & Batterstown areas of the county.

Deputy Wallace stated “This will be brilliant for commuters from the greater Navan area, Dunshaughlin and Fairyhouse Cross and for all commuters in the area travelling to the city centre.”

Deputy Wallace continued “Dunshaughlin will also get their village back as the Dunshaughlin bypass comes into operation. We have already seen the huge benefits experienced with the opening of the Dunboyne bypass last November which has made a huge difference to residents in Dunboyne village and to motorists travelling from the N3 to Maynooth.

“The construction of this motorway from Clonee to Kells with link roads to and around Dunboyne, Dunshaughlin, Navan and Kells is one of the largest infrastructural projects undertaken in Meath and this will undoubtedly improve the quality of life for thousands of Meath people.” Deputy Wallace concluded
