Wallace pleased with funding of close to
€33 million for Meath Roads in 2010

1st February 2010

Details have been announced of the Government’s €1.115 billion investment in the National Roads Programme for 2010 and specifically the €32,807,700 million for Meath Roads allocation according to Mary Wallace TD.

Speaking about the Meath Road allocation, Deputy Wallace said:  “This investment shows commitment to progressing projects that will enhance the quality of life for people in Meath.  The funding allocated for 2010 will allow for improved better roads which will provide for continued improvements on the County’s national roads.”

“I am particularly pleased with the substantial funding of €24M allocated to the Clonee/North of Kells scheme (Bypass Dunshaughlin, Navan, Kells), €2,743,000 allocated to Ashbourne Py-Pass/M50 junction and to funding of €1,570,000 and €650,000 earmarked for Slane Bypass and Drogheda Bypass respectively”.

“In addition €300,000 has been allocated to Curtis Cross and to Castle Street in Kells for safety measures. Funding has also been allocated to a number of secondary roads such as Knowth, Carlanstown/Williamstown Cross and for maintenance, ongoing surfacing works and weather related pavement rehab on both our primary and secondary roads.”

Deputy Wallace is also pleased to confirm that the M3 Clonee to North of Kells, the Kells Bypass (part of M3), the Kells – Carnaross (part of M3) and the M50 upgrade scheme phase 2 will be completed in 2010.
