Dunboyne does well from Recreational and Community funding

Dunboyne Cllr Noel Leonard warmly welcomes funding allocated to a number of Dunboyne Projects by Meath County Council under the recreation, Amenity Environmental Improvement Scheme.

Dunboyne Cow Park Development - €452,000

Cllr Leonard stated “A further 102K has been allocated to the Cow Park development. This is in addition to the €350,000 previously allocated under this scheme and a successful community fundraiser event which took place earlier this year”

Cllr Leonard continued “This money means a lot and will kick start the funding required for this fantastic community facility which will house a number of clubs for our community. We can now look ahead at applying for lotto funding”.

€169K for Multi Sports in Dunboyne

“Funding of 60k has also been allocated for the resurfacing of the car park at Dunboyne athletic/GAA/scouts club. Previously €84,000 was provided for a basketball/tennis court at Dunboyne Park.

In addition Cllr Leonard is delighted that the following Dunboyne Community groups have been approved to receive funding by Meath County Council under the Community Grants Scheme 2008.

Dunboyne Tennis Club is to receive grant aid of    €25,000 to go towards the complete re-development of this site to include a new two storey clubhouse, dressing rooms, toilets, showers, balcony viewing area plus the construction of a fourth court in the surrounding area.

St Peters GAA - €200,000 in 4 years

St Peters GAA Dunboyne have been allocated €20,000 to install insulation material on the aluminium roof of a large community hall within the facility. St Peters GAA was previously grant aided by €180K under the community grant scheme in 2005 and 2006.

“I wish all of the voluntary committees every success with their clubs and congratulate them on their hard work and dedication in supplying sporting facilities to the youth and indeed the community as a whole” Concluded Cllr Leonard
Minister Mary Wallace TD also welcomed the funding stating ” Any funding that goes towards improving community facilities and sporting activities is especially welcomed and I congratulate all the volunteers in these groups for their efforts in delivering these important facilities in Dunboyne”.
