Education projects gets go ahead
Meath East TD Mary Wallace was delighted with her meeting this week with the Minister for Education during which he gave the all clear to three school projects that have major significance for Meath East.
Ratoath National School
The Ratoath National School on the Fairyhouse Road is to get its 14 classroom extension, 10 classrooms in the junior school and 4 classrooms in the senior school, to complete this school project and provide the very best of facilities for 1000 pupils.
Minister Wallace welcomed the news saying “this will at last see the end of the prefabs on this site. The Minister has cleared the project to go to tender and to proceed to construction in the first half of 2009”.
Ratoath Cllr Nick Killian said “in the present financial climate this news is very much appreciated and shows the commitment of the Minister and the Dept of Education to the overall provision of education facilities in Ratoath. This clears the way for St Pauls School to progress on the school building programme and removes the famous train track prefabs from the Fairyhouse Road”.
St Peters College Dunboyne
St Peters College Dunboyne is to get a major extension to cater for the 300 pupils who are presently in temporary classrooms. This project is cleared to go to construction before the end of 2008 and will result in the removal of 8 prefabs and the provision of permanent accommodation for a total of 1000 pupils. The school has presently got 930 pupils and permanent accommodation catering for 650.
Minister Wallace is delighted with this announcement saying “This brings this fantastic college the very best of accommodation for all of its pupils”.
Dunboyne Cllr Noel Leonard said “this is great news for Dunboyne especially in the present financial climate where we were genuinely concerned and shows the commitment of the Minister and the government to continue in the capital programme for important facilities especially in education”.
Rathfeigh Primary School
Rathfeigh Primary School is to get its two-classroom extension, GP room and resource room bringing this school to a five-classroom school and the removal of two prefabs.
A delighted Minister Wallace said “this is a major announcement for the parish of Rathfeigh and is very good news for the people who worked so hard with me over the past couple of years to move the project through the stages”.
Rathfeigh Cllr Jim Mangan welcomed the good news for his local national school Rathfeigh saying “my grandson James Mangan aged 5 has just started in the school and for the young pupils and their families this is an exceptionally good day in this small rural parish”.
