Good News for Ratoath National Schools
Ratoath TD Mary Wallace and Cllr Nick Killian are delighted that the two proposed extensions for Ratoath National Schools on the Fairyhouse Road have commenced the tendering process today 21st November and that planning permission has been expedited and granted also today by Meath County Council.
In October Minister O’Keefe gave the all clear to two proposed extensions for Ratoath National Schools and these were sanctioned to proceed to tender and construction as soon as possible. Today, the notice to tender was issued by Etenders and applications are invited before the deadline of 12th December. 2008.
The current 12-classroom Junior National School will get an extension of 10 classrooms and 3 special education tuition rooms along with an extension of the present GP room. In addition there will be an upgrading of some of the existing classrooms.
The current 16-classroom Senior National School will benefit from a 4-classroom extension and 4 special education tuition rooms. This extension will further enhance the facilities in the senior school that include 2 resource rooms, a computer room, a general purpose room and storage.
Mary Wallace TD states “The Department of Education is moving ahead as scheduled on the school extensions and the plan to proceed to construction in the first half of 2009 and is on target. The proposed extensions will complete this school project and provide the very best educational facilities for its 1000 pupils”.
Ratoath Cllr Killian states “This news is most welcome, I am particularly pleased that Meath County Council have expedited the planning and have granted planning permission for the school extension projects in order to meet the Department of Education deadlines. Overall, this news shows the commitment of myself, Minister Wallace and the Dept of Education and Science to the overall provision of education facilities in Ratoath.
