Wallace reminds eligible families of the closing date for Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance

Mary Wallace TD reminds eligible families the closing date for the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance is Thursday 30th September.

Deputy Wallace stated “The scheme is open from 1st June to 30th September. To apply you will need to fill out a Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance form available from my website www.marywallace.ie. A mobile text service has also been setup to obtain an application form for the allowance. Simply text - FORM BTSCFA - to 51909 followed by your name and address. Parents are also welcome to apply to their local HSE office for funding under the scheme.”

To get the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance, you (the parent or guardian) must meet a number of conditions:
• You must be getting certain social welfare payments or payments for training, employment schemes or adult education
• Your total household income must be below a certain amount
• The child/student must be between 2 and 22 years before 1 October of the year you apply and must be in full-time education at a recognised school or college

RATES OF PAYMENT
The rates of payment are:
a)  €200 in respect of children aged 2 to 11 on the 30th September 2010
(b) €305 in respect of children aged 12 to 17 on the 30th September 2010
