Head to Tail - Shop Opens in Ashbourne

This week saw the opening of the new Head to Tail shop in Ashbourne providing for all of your pets needs. The shop was officially opened by Minister of State Mary Wallace who stated “Head to Tail will cater for the needs of pet owners in Ashbourne, providing a very convenient one stop shop for grooming, veterinary and animal health care”.

Head to Tail is owner managed by Susan O'Scanaill and is run in conjunction with the O'Scanaill small animal practice at the Rath. Susan's husband Peadar and his family have provided many years of veterinary services to Ashbourne and the surrounding area with Peadar’s uncle Pat Moran initially having a clinic on Bachelors Walk. Peadar then took over the practice from his uncle and Peadar himself has worked at the Rath for over 20 years.

The new animal health shop "Head to Tail" will provide veterinary care, grooming services and an animal health shop providing a range of high quality pet food, specific prescription diets for animals with particular conditions or complaints, animal health needs and animal behavioural toys.

In wishing Head to Tail well at the official opening this week Minister Wallace said "the connection with the small animal practice at the Rath including the grooming and veterinary service will obviously be a major asset to Head to Tail”. In concluding she said “as Ashbourne has moved from a village in a rural community to a town the changing emphasis nowadays to small animal and the companion animal area is being addressed with this new premises and I wish Head to Tail and its staff every success in the years ahead”. Minister Wallace congratulated the staff on the excellent grooming equipment and supplies which should be of great value to the many dog and small animal owners in the Ashbourne area.
