Last Opportunity to register to vote in General Election
With only a short time until an election is announced, Meath East TD and Minister of State Mary Wallace advises of a last opportunity for people to register to vote in the General Election.
If you are not on the current Register of Electors and an election is called, you may apply to be put on the Supplement to the Register of Electors. The closing date for the Supplement is 14 days (excluding Sundays and Bank Holidays) prior to the date of election.
"In effect this means is that if an election is called, people only have about 3 days to register" said Minister Wallace.
Mary Wallace expresses concern that as the date for calling the election comes closer we may be into the last few days for people to register as voters.
On examining the registers this weekend, Minister Wallace has identified several areas where people are not on the Register and she asks that people who are interested in voting take this last opportunity of registering on the Supplementary Register before it is too late.
Meath County Council will accept applications this week for inclusion on the Supplementary Register.
