10th March 2009

Meath East TD Mary Wallace reminds families who have concerns about managing money of the support available from the Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS).

The Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS) is a free and confidential service for people in Ireland with debt problems and money management problems. There are 52 MABS offices in Ireland, staffed by trained Money Advisers. The MABS office in Meath is located at:

1st Floor,
19 Trimgate Street,
Navan,
Co Meath.

Tel: 046(9072836)
Fax: 046(9075865

The MABS service is free and you will not have to pay for any advice, assistance or information. All contact with MABS is in strictest confidence.

MABS have a booklet entitled "A Guide to Managing your Money and Dealing with Debt", MABS recommend what they refer to as a tried and tested three step approach for managing money problems and seven golden rules when it comes to serious financial difficulties. A copy of this document is available for download on www.mabs.ie.

The www.askaboutmoney.com website also provides a wide range of financial information.

Minister Wallace would also like to take this opportunity to express her thanks and appreciation to the wonderful people in MABS, citizen information, St. Vincent De Paul and other organisations who work so hard assisting families throughout the year.
