Wallace lodges objection to Council re Tara/Skryne Conservation Plan
Mary Wallace TD has lodged a formal objection to Meath County Council on the proposed Tara/Skryne landscape Conservation plan following the significant opposition of the plan by the large number of people who attended the information meeting arranged by Mary Wallace TD in the Skryne Parish Hall on the 8th June last.
Deputy Wallace stated “In order to clarify the views of local residents on this important issue, I called an information meeting in the Skryne Parish Hall. The meeting was attended by 200 residents and 95% of the attendees live within the red boundary line on the map of the Draft Conservation Area.”
Deputy Wallace continued “Of substantial concern are the de-exemptions, i.e. developments/structures that were previously exempt from planning permission that will now require planning permission. “
“This local rural community is concerned regarding the future sustainability of their rural area with a lack of development to maintain a rural community due to planning restrictions, in effect, these concerns centre around planning applications being referred to the Department of the Environment, Heritage & Local Government and effective sterilisation of the area. The concern is also that the social fabric of the local community would be decimated by forcing young people to live elsewhere, due to planning restrictions and schools, community groups and local clubs, intrinsic to a growing and vibrant community would suffer greatly.”
“The conclusion of the 200 residents who attended the information meeting on the 08/06/2010 was very clear. They unanimously called on Meath County Council to abandon this proposal and they called on the members of Meath County Council to vote against this proposal, when it comes before them for decision on the 05/07/2010. “
“As their Public Representative, elected by them to represent their views I have made my own submission to Meath County Council to endorse the concerns of the community and to support the community in their call that this proposal should now be abandoned. “ Deputy Wallace concluded.
