Two new schools announced for Ashbourne Co Meath

Five new primary schools are to be established over the next two years under the patronage of the multi-denominational group Educate Together and the Gaelscoil body, An Foras Pátrúnachta.

The Department of Education has consulted school patrons in relation to areas where the Department has identified a probable need for new primary schools to commence operation to meet increased demographics. Having considered the needs and capacity of existing schools in each identified area and following conisderation of the applications from and discussions with the patron bodies, approval has been given for new schools to commence operation in September 2011 and 2012 as follows:

Educate Together, the multi-denominational school patron, will manage three of the five new schools announced by the Department of Education and Skills. Two Schools will open in Blanchardstown and Mulhuddart in September 2011 and one will open in Ashbourne Co Meath in September 2012.

An Foras Pátrúnachta will open an multi-denominational school in Ashbourne Co Meath in September 2011 and another in Mulhuddart next year.

It is not planned to open any other new primary schools in 2011. The question of the need for additional new primary schools in 2012 and in subsequent years is being examed further having regard to school enrolments and changing demographics accrss areas of population growth.
