Swine flu vaccination programme for children to start next week

20th November 2009

“The Department of Education and Science has written to all schools advising them of the arrangements the HSE is putting in place ahead of the swine flu vaccination for children programme which starts next week”  Mary Wallace TD.

In addition, arrangements to distribute information to the parents of every child enrolled in our schools on the vaccination programme are being made by the HSE.

School staff will also be vaccinated as part of this phase of the national vaccination programme focussing on children of school-going age.

It is expected that the programme will be completed early next year.

“I would like to acknowledge the principals, teachers and staff in our schools and to the parents for their fantastic support in averting the spread of the virus”.

“It is important that we all continue to adopt good hand and respiratory hygiene practice” Deputy Wallace concluded
