Ratoath National Schools extension projects get go ahead to construction

Meath East TD Mary Wallace and Ratoath, Cllr Nick Killian are delighted with the fantastic news received from the Minister for Education. Minister O’Keefe has given the all clear to two proposed extensions to go to construction within the next 3 weeks for Ratoath National Schools on the Fairyhouse Road which will complete this school project and provide the very best educational facilities for its 1000 pupils. In addition this project will assist in keeping jobs in the construction industry and will help locally with the provision of services.
The Ratoath National Schools are to get a 14 classroom extension, 7 special education tuition rooms and redevelopment of the existing Car Park.
Junior National School
The current 12-classroom Junior National School will get an extension of 10 classrooms and 3 special education tuition rooms along with an extension of the present GP room. In addition there will be an upgrading of some of the existing classrooms.
Senior National School
The current 16-classroom Senior National School will benefit from a 4-classroom extension and 4 special education tuition rooms. This extension will further enhance the facilities in the senior school that include 2 resource rooms, a computer room, a general purpose room and storage.
Car Park
In addition the existing car park will be re-developed.
Mary Wallace is absolutely delighted with the news saying “this will at last see the end of the famous train track prefabs on this site. The Minister has cleared the project to award the contract and to proceed to construction immediately”.
Cllr Nick Killian said “in the present financial climate this news is very much appreciated and shows the commitment of Deputy Wallace and the Dept of Education and Science to the overall provision of education facilities in Ratoath. This clears the way for St Pauls School to progress on the school building programme. This is wonderful news for pupils, parents teachers and all involved”.
Deputy Wallace and Cllr Nick Killian would like to acknowledge the huge support and assistance from Parish Priest Fr Gerry Stuart, the chairpersons and members of the Boards of Management, Ratoath National School Parents Association, Junior National School Principal Pat Foley, Senior National School Principal Maurice Kearney all of whom have played their part in assisting us to progress these projects.
