Wallace reminds youth groups of

grant scheme

The Office of the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs has allocated approximately €48,000 to Meath VEC for distribution to youth groups in County Meath. The Local Youth Club Grant Scheme is provided by the Office of the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, the Department of Health, the National Development Plan and the National Lottery.

The scheme is open to all organisations in County Meath that have voluntary youth work as their primary focus, however priority will be given those who are directly involved in the provision of services to those between the age of 10 and 21.

The Youth Club Grant Scheme is there to help clubs who provide such necessary and beneficial role in our community.

A youth group under the criteria for the designation of local voluntary youth work organisations must

- Provide a youth work programme/service which is either youth club based or youth activity based
- Involve young people less than 25 years
- Programme/ service must be provided within County Meath VEC area
- Have at least 8 registered/ participating young people
- Have a commitment to the involvement of young persons in all aspects of the organisation
- Be voluntary in nature
- Have clear financial records and systems

Unfortunately Sports Clubs are not eligible for funding under the terms of the Local Youth Grant Scheme, as funding is available through a separate scheme administered by Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism from Meath Local Sports Partnership.
