Public encouraged to attend Drug Strategy Meetings
Minister of State Mary Wallace TD welcomes the news that the general public have been invited to be part of the consultation process for the development of a new National Drug Strategy to cover 2009-2016.
The public will be given an opportunity to air their views at a series of meetings which will be held nationwide. All meetings will take place from 7pm to 9:30pm. Minister of State at the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Pat Carey intends to be present at these meetings.
The schedule of meetings is as follows:
Tuesday 22nd - April Royal Marine Hotel, Dún Laoghaire
Thursday 24th April - Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone
Tuesday 29th April - Hilton Dublin Airport Hotel, Malahide Road, Dublin 17
Thursday 1st May - Ardilaun Hotel, Salthill, Galway
Tuesday 6th May - Ashdown Park HotelGorey
Thursday 8th May - Plaza Hotel, Tallaght
Monday 12th May - Clarion hotel, Sligo
Tuesday 13th May - Hilton Dublin City Hotel, Charlemont Place, Dublin 2
Thursday 15th May - Heritage Hotel, Portlaoise
Monday 19th May - Greenhills Hotel, Limerick
Tuesday 20th May - Fels Point Hotel, Tralee

Minister Wallace stated “Every community is affected with the abuse of drugs. Drugs destroy communities, families and lives.
She added “Public opinion both young and old on drug policy will be invaluable in how we best tackle this major issue in our society today”
“I would encourage members of the public to attend one of the meetings” she concluded
