Ratoath Bus Improvements Update - Summer 2008
Ratoath TD and Minister of State Mary Wallace has had ongoing meetings with Bus Eireann to improve the bus service for Ratoath. Bus Eireann has informed Minister Wallace of the following additional and enhanced bus services for Ratoath under Transport 21.
New Fairyhouse Road Route 105 – hourly service (Ratoath –Dublin via Fairyhouse Road)
An hourly service was introduced at the end of May 2008 on route 105.
Passengers are advised that the first departure from Ratoath via the Fairyhouse Road to Dublin is at 07:00hrs from Monday to Friday, 08:00 hrs on Saturday and 0900 hrs on Sunday and Bank Holidays. The last departure from Ratoath is at 24:00 hrs from Monday to Saturday and the last departure on Sunday and Bank Holidays is at 21:00 hrs.
This bus will collect passengers outside the post office and on up the Fairyhouse Road, including at the bus stop past the school. Residents living on the Fairyhouse Road and in nearby housing estates are finding it particularly useful.
Passengers are also advised that the first departure from Beresford Place, Dublin City is 06:00 hrs from Monday to Friday, 07:00 hrs on Saturday and 08:00 hrs on Sunday and Bank Holidays. The last departure from Beresford Place is 23:00 hrs Monday to Saturday and 20:00hrs Sunday and Bank Holidays.
Route 109A - Navan/Dublin Airport/DCU
The 109A service from Navan through Ratoath to Dublin Airport and DCU continues to be an invaluable service, and Minister Wallace has asked the residents of Ratoath to consider using this service sooner rather than later to make trips to Navan, Dublin Airport and DCU as this is a very valuable service which needs to be utilised if its viability is to be maintained.
Minister Wallace acknowledges that many people have started to use this service and are very complimentary of it. She is delighted to see the bus stopping in Ratoath and more and more passengers are using the service.
Passengers are advised that the first departure from Navan is at 0500 hrs and the last departure from Navan is at 21:00hrs. Last departure from DCU is at 22:20hrs. It travels through Ratoath at approximately 5 minutes past the hour heading for Navan and approximately 25 minutes past the hour heading for Dublin Airport/DCU.
This service will be hugely important in the years ahead for 3rd level students and for Airport users over the summer as people take their annual holidays.
