Ratoath Community Groups to receive €130K
Cllr Nick Killian and Minister Mary Wallace TD are delighted that the following local Community groups have been approved to receive funding by Meath County Council under the Community Grants Scheme 2008.
9th Meath Ratoath Scout Group has been allocated €25,000.00. Ratoath Scout Group intend to develop a new 660sq meter Scout Den facility. It is planned to fence off the perimeter of the site this year, with bow top fencing and start on ground work stage of the site.
Ratoath GAA has been allocated €10,000.00. Ratoath GAA plan to install a 2M high chain green powder coated linked fence along perimeter of the nature trail and the 2 gaelic pitches.
Ratoath Harps has been allocated €45,000.00. Ratoath Harps intend to use this funding to re-surface the existing car park and improve the drainage of the existing playing facilities.
Ratoath Tennis Club has been allocated €30,000.00. Ratoath Tennis Club have a 3 phase plan to develop a green field site in Jamestown to include 5 tennis courts, including a clubhouse and funding for nets, posts, lighting and a tarmac pathway.
Jamestown Sports Complex has been allocated €15,000.00. The green field site of the proposed development is located in Jamestown adjacent to the newly built Ratoath College Secondary School. The area of this green field site is comprised of a proposed facility for the Ratoath Community including Ratoath Tennis Club and Ratoath Athletic Club.
Fairyhouse Lodge Residents Committee has been allocated € 1,500.00 to go towards the enhancement of their estate.
Peacockstown Estate Residence Association has been allocated € 2,500.00 for the planting of trees, shrubs in the green area and entrance to Peacockstown Estate.
Cllr Nick Killian stated “This will allow all of these clubs to take projects forward this year. I am delighted that the Tennis Club are now in a position to commence the construction of courts etc, as soon as planning permission is approved. I wish all of the voluntary committees every success with their clubs and congratulate them on their hard work and dedication to the young members whom they work with.”
Minister Mary Wallace TD stated” Any funding that goes towards improving community facilities and sporting activities is especially welcomed and I congratulate all the volunteers in these groups for their efforts in delivering these important facilities in Ratoath”.
