Statement by Minister Wallace, in relation to the implementation of the provisions of the Public Health Tobacco Acts 2002 & 2004

T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children with special responsibility for Health Promotion and Food Safety, wishes to clarify that media reports over the weekend are incorrect in relation to the implementation of the provisions of the Public Health Tobacco Acts 2002 & 2004 including the requirement for retailers to remove all advertising from their premises from 1 July next. In this regard, the Minister’s previous press release of 9 July 2008 remains the position i.e. the changes will come into place on 1st July 2009.
