Update on Cinema Progress

The people of Ashbourne, Ratoath and surrounding areas, in particular the teenagers are looking forward to the fantastic proposals by Equity Properties to provide a six screen cinema at the Ashbourne Retail Park, Ashbourne.

Planning permission was granted for this fabulous facility in August 2007. Negotiations broke down with the original proposed operator but Equity Properties is pleased to announce that that a second operator has been identified and terms have been agreed.

The other good news from Equity Properties is the keys to the site were handed over to the builder just last week and he is presently gearing up to move on site. He is programmed to hand over the building on the 16th March next year when the operator will fit out and it is expected that blockbuster movies will be shown in Ashbourne Cinema in May 2009.

Local TD Mary Wallace is sending a strong message of support and good wishes to Equity Properties as they move on site and stated that “The people of Ratoath, Ashbourne and surrounding areas and in particular teenagers cannot wait for this fantastic facility as they frequently say that the main reason why they get the bus to Blanchardstown and the City is to go to the cinema”.

“Ashbourne and Ratoath now provide good shopping and leisure experiences for our residents but the one thing we would really benefit from is having a local cinema and I wish the project every success at this time and look forward to its development” she concluded.
