Wallace highlights April National Spring Clean

Meath East TD Mary Wallace this week encourages communities to participate in the 2008 National Spring Clean Campaign. The programme is in its ninth year and essentially encourages society to actively participate in conducting clean-ups in their own local environment.

The national Spring Clean Campaign is run throughout April and is a great opportunity for local community groups to get involved in making Ireland a cleaner place.

People can get involved by registering for National Spring Clean 2008 by contacting the National Spring Clean Hotline on 01 4002220 or by logging on to the website at www.nationalspringclean.org.

All those who register for the National Spring Clean campaign are issued with a free clean up kit which contains information, posters, colour coded refuse sacks for different types of waste materials, protective gloves and tabards to keep participants clean.

Minister Wallace stated “The National Spring Clean campaign is a great initiative to help improve and maintain the appearance of our County. I would encourage groups to take part because it is a great way of promoting pride in the locality, while fostering a sense of community through bringing people together with a common aim and at the same time keeping Co Meath attractive and clean for the many visitors to the county”.
