Wallace – reminds of deadline for grant application for counselling services

Meath East TD Mary Wallace would like to remind relevant voluntary and community organisations, particularly new organisations, that the closing date for receipt of applications for grants for marriage, child and bereavement counselling services is Friday the 28th November.

These grants are provided through the Family Support Agency (FSA) for 2009. Last year over €11m was provided to over 600 organisations nationwide and funding of over €150,000 was allocated to 26 voluntary and community groups throughout Meath.

Minister Wallace stated “Groups involved in counselling offer a much needed service to people who are going through a period of stress or trauma in their lives. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the volunteers in these organisations for their efforts in delivering these very worthwhile services in our community”

The FSA has written to organisations that received funding last year. New organisations active in the areas of marriage counselling, marriage preparation courses, child counselling (in relation to parental separation) and bereavement counselling and support on the death of a family member should also take note of the upcoming deadline.

Full details and application forms can be downloaded from www.fsa.ie.
